Reiza Studios has something special in store for fans of classic endurance racing. An all-new DLC will be released at the end of October, bringing back to life the glory days of 2005. With an impressive line-up of legendary GT and LMP prototypes, complemented by authentic, time-specific track variants, this is a love letter to one of the most iconic periods in motorsport history. And frankly: we can't wait!
An ode to a golden era of endurance racing
The 2000s set the stage for legendary races, iconic cars and heroic duels that have left an indelible impression. That Reiza Studios is moving in this direction is nothing short of fantastic. Automobilista 2 expands its already impressive offering with a 2005 season that has been developed to perfection. Everything oozes love for motorsport: from the liveries and physics to the sound and on-track experience.
Studio head Renato Simioni confirmed that these are three DLC packs, two of which are entirely dedicated to 2005 content. The third is the previously announced Lamborghini Dream Pack Part 2. This focus on endurance racing from the beginning of this century shows that Reiza Studios takes its community seriously. This is pure enjoyment for fans of classic endurance.

GT1 and GT2 icons - Pure nostalgia
This expansion treats us to a series of legendary GT cars that were at the heart of Le Mans, Spa and other endurance races at the time:
- BMW M3 GTR
- Porsche 911 (996 RSR)
- Dodge Viper GTS-R
- Aston Martin DBR9
- Maserati MC12
- Chevrolet Corvette C5-R
These cars are not only historically significant, they also evoke memories of classic games like GTR2 or GT Legends. The arrival of these icons in AMS2 feels like coming home to sim racers who grew up with these machines. The handling, engine sound, cockpit view and handling have been recreated with surgical precision. These are not generic racing cars - these are legends.

LMP prototypes - The king class of speed and endurance
The line-up for the LMP classes is equally impressive:
- Audi R8 LMP - the undisputed dominator of the early century
- Dallara SP1 (Chrysler LMP) - a rare gem from the era of privateer experiments
- Courage C60 Hybrid (Judd V10) - sheer mechanical beauty
- Lola B05/40 (LMP2) - versatile, light and fast
The arrival of these prototypes is a dream come true for sim racers with a penchant for classic Le Mans machines. These cars bring brutal power, complex aerodynamics and pure racing feel together in one package. The Audi R8, for example, was almost unbeatable between 2000 and 2005 - it's a real pleasure to relive that era in AMS2.

Back in time: circuits in their 2005 form
Reiza Studios goes beyond cars. They are also bringing back legendary tracks in their original 2005 configurations:
- Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans)
- Road Atlanta (Petit Le Mans)
- Spa-Francorchamps (24H Spa)
And this is no superficial adjustment. Tertre Rouge, the Dunlop chicane, the Bus Stop - all have been brought back to how they were 20 years ago. The atmosphere, the layouts, the vibe: it's as if you're really stepping back in time 20 years. This accuracy makes for an unparalleled historical experience. It feels not just like a race, but like a time travel.
More than content: improvements in gameplay
The release coincides with update v1.6.8, which adds quite a few extras for casual players and hardcore sim racers alike:
- New HUD: A fresh and sleek display that shows you all the essential information at a glance. Think predictions for brand dust consumption, tyre weartage and damage indicators per component.
- Improved AI: Opponents behave more intelligently and consistently, making single-player races feel much more realistic.
- Multiplayer fixes: Long-awaited stability is being implemented, creating a more robust online ecosystem. Work is also underway on phase 3 of the multiplayer overhaul.
- Temporal Anti-Aliasing: Visual sharpness goes up considerably without your FPS collapsing - ideal for high-demand racers.
These improvements not only make AMS2 more beautiful and stable, but also more user-friendly and immersive. The new HUD in particular will be a game-changer for many during long endurance races.

Multiplayer & Singleplayer improvements
The multiplayer component has taken a big step forward with v1.6.8: phase 2 of the overhaul is complete. This means that many of the persistent stability issues - some present in the engine for more than a decade - have finally been fixed or drastically reduced. This makes for a much more reliable online experience.
Reiza is now starting phase 3 of the multiplayer overhaul, in which tools and features are being developed to further enrich the multiplayer experience. Those who previously dropped out due to frustrations with online races would do well to give AMS2 another chance.
On the single-player side, hard work is being done to prepare for the much-anticipated career mode due to be released in 2026. The AI has been greatly improved with track-specific parameters for race behaviour, blue flag situations and overtaking. As a result, the AI drives more consistently and realistically, tailored to each specific layout.

Physics & Force Feedback updates
On the physical front, a lot of work has also been done. The all-weather vintage tyres were tackled last within the post-v1.6 update cycle. In addition, the thermodynamic properties of slicks have been revised, especially grip and friction at cold temperatures have been made more realistic. This leads to a more natural warming trajectory.
The modern GT classes (GT3, GTE, GT Open) have reworked drivelines, with better differential response when entering and exiting corners. In addition, the mass balance and polar moment of inertia of several models have been adjusted, resulting in finer handling.
The biggest difference, however, is felt in the revamped force feedback. Both the Default as Default+ profiles have been thoroughly revised. You now feel what the car is doing much better, especially during braking and in the middle of corners. The feedback is richer, more direct and, above all, more consistent - an upgrade any sim racer will appreciate.

Release date and price
Although no exact release date is known yet, Reiza is aiming for the last week of October. So the Automobilista 2 September update is coming as early as October! The price for the car dlc pack is around $9.99. It is likely that the track DLC will be offered separately, although that has not been officially confirmed yet. Either way: this content justifies every penny.
Conclusion
Reiza Studios hits with this 2005 Endurance DLC just the right chord. This is not just another content update; this is an ode to a legendary era. The love for racing oozes from it! And that is actually a direction that titles like RaceRoom should also be heading in. Bring back the legends!
From the iconic liveries to the correct corner curves of circuits from 2005 - everything is right. This is Reiza at its best. With this, Reiza prepares its now impressive range of DLCs with another classic. I sincerely cannot wait to get my hands on this new DLC pack!
For fans of classic GT1 legends, iconic prototypes and timeless tracks, this is an absolute must-have. The combination of historical precision, modern sim physics and an ever-growing platform makes Automobilista 2 a unique experience. As far as I am concerned, this is the direction sim racing may move more towards: authentic, bold, historically accurate and full of passion for motorsport.
