Years ago, I started building my first PC myself. Without any real prior knowledge, but with a lot of curiosity. Comparing parts, building a gaming PC based on online advice and doing some BIOS tweaks here and there: it was all part of it. Fun at first, educational even. But honestly, it gave me less and less satisfaction.

As I got more serious about sim racing, building my own PC started to take up most of my energy. Components that limited each other, just too little power and small technical issues that piled up and interrupted my focus. What started as ‘building a PC’ slowly turned into constant adjustments and doubts. From a too weak power supply to CPU and GPU choices that seemed fine on paper, but in practice did not fit how I used my sim racing pc.

Build your own PC or have it built?

When I recently a new simulator was going to build, I knew one thing for sure: I wanted a sim racing PC that I turn on and can trust blindly. No concessions, no wasting time and no doubting whether everything will hold up. I want to spend my time driving, hardware reviewen and creating content - not debugging or solving technical peripheral issues.

With that, the question automatically arose: do I keep building a gaming PC myself, or do I choose to have my sim racing PC built by specialists?

That consideration brought me to YourBuild.nl. The first contact with Bram and Coen immediately felt right and confirmed something important: outsourcing here did not mean losing control, but rather gaining peace of mind and security. What started as a practical choice soon grew into a fundamentally different experience.

I now know very well what I need in sim racing and everything that comes with it. I therefore consciously leave the building of PCs to specialists - and that makes all the difference to me.

Choosing YourBuild.co.uk

My choice of YourBuild.co.uk came not from a single factor, but from the overall picture. What really stood out for me was the personal contact and advice.

Behind YourBuild.nl are Bram and Coen: two dedicated computer geeks and the founders of the platform. That may sound light-hearted, but you notice in everything that people work here who really understand what they are doing. Not just on paper, but in practice. From the first moment, the conversation and advice felt substantive and sincere. These are passionate experts and you can tell that from everything! The guys at YourBuild also host many cool build streams on Twitch.

As a result, the contact does not feel like client-supplier or traditional ‘box-shuffling’, but like sparring with people who speak the same language. That makes it easier to go into depth in terms of content and make choices that remain logical even in the long term.

Personalised customisation, advice and confidence

What immediately stood out for me was that they did not start with a standard configuration. It was listened to. To how I use sim racing, how intensively I drive, which popular sims I am playing and how future-proof my setup needs to be - especially with all the hardware I am testing.

On this basis, we looked very specifically at which hardware makes sense for my use case, but also which choices are precisely not necessary. For example, the advice was to choose an AMD Ryzen processor instead of Intel. Not because it is trendy, but because it fits demonstrably better with how I drive and use my PC.

That personal advice made the difference for me. Not just because it is nice to be taken seriously, but because you notice that there is knowledge of both hardware and the practice of sim racing here.

“No distance or noise - just passionate entrepreneurs who think with you. They really listened to what I needed - and you can feel that in everything.”

The online configurator is useful if you know exactly what you want. I didn't have that. I had a clear goal, but no definite parts list . That's precisely why I was fully guided by YourBuild's advice - and it felt logical from the start. They asked focused and simple questions that quickly got to the core of what I was going to use the PC for, what was important to me, what games I play and how intensively, how important stability and future-proofing were, for example.

That gave confidence. Not because they automatically said yes to everything, but because they thought along with us and contradicted us where necessary. Exactly what you want when you're not looking for a sales pitch, but for a PC that really suits you.

The process and method

What the collaboration with YourBuild.co.uk pleasant is that the process is as well thought-out as the final PC. No unnecessary steps or noise, but a clear working method that focuses on personal contact and expertise.

Advantage #1: composing via the online configurator, fine-tuning in personal contact

The process starts easily via the online configurator. With this, you put together an initial basic configuration yourself. This gives immediate insight into options, price categories and global choices.

The real difference comes after that. By phone, WhatsApp or e-mail, you can adjust the configuration, ask questions or seek advice. This is not a compulsory sales moment, but a substantive conversation. It is precisely there that we check whether your choices make sense for your use, or whether there are better alternatives.

Benefit #2: Expert advice when you need it

Should you have any doubts or specific requirements, YourBuild offers expert advice to ensure the chosen specifications perform optimally. No more, but certainly no less than necessary.

Sometimes that means confirmation that you are right, but just as often it means advice not to do something. That honesty contributes directly to trust and prevents you from paying for services that you do not use in practice.

Advantage #3: ordering and assembly with attention to detail

After agreement, the PC is assembled personally by YourBuild. No conveyor belt work, but a build with attention to detail, quality and finish. Components are carefully placed, cabling is neatly concealed and everything is tested before the PC goes out the door. You notice that the focus here is not just on whether something works, but whether it is correct as a whole.

Benefit #4: Fast and safe home delivery

Delivery is fast and careful. The PC is packed securely and safely, with clear attention to transport protection. As a result, the system arrives as intended: intact, clean and ready to use.

Benefit #5: Support and warranty even after delivery

What positively surprised me is that contact does not stop after delivery. YourBuild remains available for questions, advice or support. Whether it's a small question, a check-up or just some thinking along - that willingness remains. That makes the whole process complete. Not just a well-built PC, but also the certainty that you are not alone if you run into something later. And precisely that back-up and being able to seek advice or ask for help if you're struggling with something is nice and something you can't really do when building your own.

Game pc build for sim racing

Building a gaming PC for sim racing requires a different approach than a standard gaming PC. It is not about peak performance in one specific title, but consistent performance under long-term load. Long races, high resolutions, VR or multiple screens simultaneously place different emphases on CPU, GPU and stability.

This is precisely where, in practice, you often see the difference between a ‘fast gaming PC’ and a really good sim racing PC. Balance, reliability and predictable behaviour outweigh the highest figures on paper. With this in mind, I embarked on this journey - and that is the common thread in all the choices that follow.

raceroom september update

Putting together the sim racing pc

For me, sim racing is all about confidence. I often drive long sessions, use heavy simulators and like to set the graphics settings high, without wanting to be preoccupied while driving with whether everything will continue to work. Especially since I also create a lot of content and record POV videos, I want it to just look good and be right - without fuss.

I was therefore not looking for a PC optimised for one specific game, but an all-round system I can build on. A PC that performs strongly today, but will still feel reliable in a few years' time. I like the certainty that I can run all popular sim racing titles - such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa EVO, Assetto Corsa Rally, Automobilista 2 and RaceRoom - effortlessly at the highest settings on my MSI MPG 49″ ultrawide monitor. And just as important: that I could race without concessions in VR with my Pimax Crystal Super headset.

All choices were made with this in mind. Not chasing the latest or most extreme, but choosing components that have proven themselves in practice. A build that stays calm, works predictably and gives me the confidence that technology no longer plays a role. In the end, that is the most important thing for me.

Choice of hardware

What I found strong about the process is that each part was substantiated from real-world experience and similar use cases. Not: “this is new” or “this sells well”, but: “this demonstrably works well in this type of builds and in this use case”. This is reflected, for instance, in a CPU that continues to perform stably under prolonged and heavy load, but also in the Nvidia 5080 GPU that offers enough graphics power and space to play all my favourite sims at the highest possible settings.

Delivery and unboxing

The delivery also felt right away - actually from the moment I received the shipping confirmation. The order and delivery went smoothly. With a track & trace code, I knew exactly when the PC would arrive and when I had to be at home. With a high-end PC like this, that immediately gives peace of mind and you would prefer to take it yourself, of course. I did have some healthy tension about having such an expensive and fragile PC sent by post, but fortunately everything worked out fine.

yourbuild.co.uk review unboxing
yourbuild.co.uk review unboxing

I generally have nothing to complain about the quality of delivery and unpacking. The shipping process was flawless and the PC was also super well packed and protected.

Everything was securely and thoughtfully packed, with clear protection for all internal components. This was well thought out. Of course, unpacking a new product is generally one of the nicer things to do as you can see below 😉

YouTube video

Clear manual

The PC comes with a manual and a handy to-do step list. This gives a clear and practical overview of what to do in what order. All this really speaks for itself and in all honesty, you can do little to nothing wrong with this.

Plug-and-play

And then the moment you do it all for: plug it in, boot it up and drive it. No running down lists, no checking drivers, no doubting whether everything is set up correctly or long Windows-11 software installations. I pressed the power button and could go straight on. Wonderful! Of course you spend some time downloading and installing your favourite games and software - that's part of the job. But the fact that the PC itself is already fully set up and just works really feels like a relief!

“The convenience was not only in the PC, but especially in the communication around it.”

yourbuild.co.uk review

Personal attention that makes a difference

What completed it for me was the aftercare. Some time after delivery, I was personally called by Coen with the simple question of how I liked the PC build. Just a simple phone call with genuine interest. Now I don't know if this happens with every order, but small, human moments like this really make a difference. It not only gave me confidence, but also just a good feeling - and yes, a smile. It gives you confirmation of the choice made. Smart!

Build quality and finish

When I first saw this PC, I was genuinely quiet for a moment. This was one of those moments where you immediately think: okay, this is from another level. I have rarely seen a PC build this sleek, clean and thoughtful. Everything is right, down to the smallest details.

The cable management in particular stood out immediately. I have seen few builds that are so neatly finished. No loose cables, no clutter and nothing that distracts. Everything runs logically, tightly and is carefully bundled with the YourBuild Velcro straps. It not only looks functional, but just incredibly neat. It really is a joy to look at and one that I can learn a lot from in my simulator 😉

“You can see from everything that this has been built with attention and craftsmanship. The finish is of a level I would never achieve myself - the cable management in particular is really next level.”

Putting this next to my own built PC, I must honestly admit I had to laugh for a moment. I was always quite happy with that - until now. This build shows what is possible when craftsmanship, calmness and passion for detail come together. My original plan was to put the PC behind the simulator, but I quickly backtracked on that. This PC is now deliberately next to my rig, as part of the setup. After all, it is a PC that should be seen.

Specifications of my sim racing pc

The configuration of my sim racing PC below shows all the specifications, but more importantly, why this works so well in practice for sim racing. This is not about ticking off the ‘best parts’ or most expensive hardware. It's about a setup that is right for me and my use as a whole.

Processor (CPU)

  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8 cores / 16 threads)
  • AM5 socket

The choice of this CPU was not obvious to me. I worked with Intel systems for many years and honestly always assumed that was the best choice. I never really questioned that view.

This is precisely why the advice to choose AMD was interesting. Not from brand preference, but purely from usage. For sim racing - and especially with busy starts, long stints and VR - the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D simply proved a better fit according to YourBuild. And I have to be honest; in practice, everything feels calmer and more predictable than with my other Intel PC. And exactly that gives exactly the confidence you want while driving.

Graphics card (GPU)

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 / 16GB VRAM

This next-generation GPU from Nvidia ensures that graphics settings are no longer a point of discussion. High or Ultra, single, triple screen or VR - it all runs without the card being at its limit. Without any problems at all! It is precisely this overcapacity that is hugely valuable for sim racing. No fluctuations, no sudden dips, but a smooth and predictable experience. You notice this not only in image quality, but especially in how relaxed you can drive at a constant fps.

yourbuild.co.uk review

Motherboard

  • GIGABYTE B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7

The motherboard is honestly the part I know the least about myself - and perhaps for that very reason it was nice to let go of this completely. Again, I trusted YourBuild's advice completely - and rightly so in hindsight. For me, a motherboard doesn't need to be exciting, it should mainly do what it is supposed to do. And that is exactly what this motherboard does. Everything works as you expect, with no hassles or surprises. Modern connectivity, such as WiFi 7, also makes it future-proof. No hassle with compatibility or limitations, just a stable base on which everything comes together without a hitch.

My ultrawide monitor in this setup

I use this setup in combination with the MSI MPG 49” OLED. In my review about this ultrawide monitor read why this screen fits sim racing so well, both in terms of image quality and comfort.

Working memory (RAM)

  • 64 GB DDR5 memory
  • 2× 32 GB Kingston DDR5 SDRAM
  • 6000 MT/s

With 64GB of RAM, I don't have to worry about anything. Sim racing, telemetry apps like TrackTitan, recording software like OBS and other background programmes like SimHub, run effortlessly side-by-side. Probably 64GB is an overkill and you will rarely need it in practice. But rather too much than too little to have predictable behaviour and consistency in use for maximum reliability.

Storage

  • Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe SSD - 4 TB

Storage is one of those parts you don't think about until it is not working properly. You don't see it, but you feel it. Here, it is exactly the opposite. Games load quickly, updates finish smoothly and I have all the space I need for all my popular sim games, content and future expansions. No shuffling discs or cleaning up because storage fills up. Wonderful!

yourbuild review

Cooling

  • DeepCool SPARTACUS LCD Liquid Cooler

This is honestly one of the parts that makes me most happy. Of course it is important that the CPU stays cool - and it does, even during long races and VR sessions - but what makes this cooling really cool is that LCD screen. Functional AND fun - exactly the combination I love.

This is fairly new to me and something I don't have in my other PC. Being able to load your own gifs, images or even short videos is obviously not a must-have for performance, but it is a fantastic detail. It gives the PC that extra bit of personality and really makes your computer ‘its own’.

Technically, such an all-in-one liquid cooler also has clear advantages for sim racing. Due to the larger radiator and the use of liquid, heat is dissipated more efficiently than with many traditional air coolers. That makes for more stable temperatures, fewer spikes under load and thus more peace of mind and better performance during online sim races. Another detail I noticed is how extremely quiet and peaceful this cooler is. Even under high load, you don't really hear it blowing, cooling or give you the idea of a plane taking off. .

Housing

  • DeepCool CH690 Digital

Let me be honest: the housing normally does not fascinate me at all. Indeed, I often find it rather distracting from what sim racing is really about. A simple black case without RGB would have sufficed just fine for me.

But... when YourBuild arrived with this case, I was genuinely positively surprised. This is without a doubt an enclosure that impresses. The architecture, the openness and the way the hardware is presented show off YourBuild's craftsmanship beautifully. All the details and choices really come into their own here.

It is almost fascinating to look at. Especially when I compare it to my own PC build, I have to admit I'm a little embarrassed how I put that together. This case shows how sleek, thoughtful and aesthetic a PC build can be - even if you could care less about this. All in all, then, the DeepCool CH690 Digital is a remarkably positive choice that I am extremely happy with. It's a case that I'm proud to put next to my new simulator and so should be seen.

My personal experience after two months of intensive use

I have been using this PC intensively for about two months now, almost daily. Long races, short sprints, testing, content creation and a lot of switching between different setups. It is precisely after this period that it becomes clear whether a PC is really well put together - and that is exactly where this PC continues to impress.

Daily use

Perhaps what strikes me most is how quickly good performance becomes ‘normal’. Even on my triple monitor setup - where I could drive on High with an RTX 4090 before - this PC feels even more consistent and calm. Everything structurally runs on High to Ultra settings without me even thinking about it. No tweaks, concessions or doubts but clearly a PC you can build on.

The OLED ultrawide monitor goes the extra mile. Colours splash off the screen and the overall picture simply feels impressive. More importantly, this PC build feels more balanced. It is stable, fast and does exactly what you expect time after time. This makes sim racing predictable. Something I hardly experience with my other own build - unfortunately. There, I often spend a lot of time updating, drivers, software or hardware that out of the blue (especially USB devices) stops working properly.

sim lab p1x ultimate

VR in practice

Besides racing on my triple monitor setup, I also get a lot of enjoyment from sim racing in VR. Much of my time is spent driving in VR with my Pimax Crystal Super headset - a headset known to be quite demanding on both CPU and GPU.

Whereas VR on many systems feels like balancing on the edge, that is not the case here at all. The image remains sharp and stable, frametimes are calm and predictable and even longer VR sessions remain comfortable. I find it a breath of fresh air and get a lot of enjoyment out of being able to sim race more and more in VR. You put it on, you race and get totally absorbed in the moment. An insane experience that this new PC has no problem with.

YouTube video

Different sims

Whether I launch iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa EVO or Automobilista 2, the feeling remains the same every time. I don't have to think about specific settings per game, tweak separate profiles or apply workarounds. Everything just works the way you hope it will.

After two months of intensive use, I find that performance here never actually demands my attention. And I mean that in the best possible way. Technology disappears into the background because everything works well and stably anyway. This allows my full focus to go to riding. It is precisely this naturalness that makes this PC so strong for sim racing.

Stability and reliability

If I have to point out one difference between building your own and opting for a pre-build, it is this: stability. Performance is nice, but reliability determines whether a PC is actually pleasant to race on a daily basis.

I now use this PC extensively, almost every day. Long races, VR sessions, recording and telemetry regularly run simultaneously. And in all this time, I have not experienced a single crash, reboot or strange error message traceable to hardware or configuration. That may sound logical, but anyone who has ever built their own PCs knows that this is anything but obvious. The sim racing PC starts up tremendously fast, allowing me to actually do what it is meant to do immediately. That gives a lot of satisfaction.

What is particularly striking is how calm and fast everything remains. Performance, temperatures and noise levels feel constant and predictable, even when the PC is vigorously put to work. As a result, technology fades into the background and my attention can fully focus on driving.

The result is something that is difficult to quantify, but immediately tangible in use: peace, confidence and focus. And for me, that is the greatest benefit of this PC.

yourbuild.co.uk review

Personal and committed service and communication

What is almost as important to me as the hardware itself is the contact around it. And that's exactly where YourBuild.co.uk shows where they make a difference. From the very first moment, the communication felt pleasant and relaxed. No sales pitches, no standard answers, just substantive thinking along based on how I actually use the PC.

That feeling remained completely intact even after delivery. The contact remained personal and low-threshold, without you ever getting the idea that you are ‘annoying’ or being pushed into something. It is that combination of short lines of communication, knowledge, accessibility and genuine commitment that ensures that trust remains - even if the PC has been running smoothly for months.

For whom is having a game PC built a smart choice?

Having a PC built suits especially sim racers who consciously choose peace of mind and security. Think of it as a turnkey simulator: everything is right, everything works and you can immediately do what matters most. Driving, training and getting better - without technology constantly demanding attention.

Building, comparing and figuring it out yourself can certainly be cheaper at the bottom line. But you often pay that saving back in time, frustration and endless fine-tuning. With a pre-build PC, you skip that whole process. You don't buy individual parts, but confidence, convenience and focus. And that is precisely why this choice is not only logical for me, but also very defensible.

Having a PC built is a logical choice if you:

  • Maximum reliability sought
  • No appetite for trial and error
  • Wants everything to be immediately right and stay right
  • Understands that stability in sim racing is often more important than peak performance on paper

At the same time, this is not the right route for everyone.

Building your own PC suits you better if you:

  • Taking pleasure in tinkering and fine-tuning
  • Want full control over every component
  • Above all, seek the cheapest solution and be prepared to make concessions

For me, the added value of a pre-build like this is mainly in focus. I know that the basics are right, that everything is aligned and that my hardware is no longer a question mark. For me, that peace of mind outweighs putting together every component myself - and exactly that makes this approach the right choice for me.

yourbuild.co.uk review
yourbuild.co.uk review

So are there any drawbacks?

To be fair, I have also deliberately looked for cons. There are hardly any - as evidenced by YourBuild's high customer rating (4.8/5) - but not naming anything at all does not fit with how I look at reviews.

If I may mention one slight quibble, it is not in the PC itself but in the presentation upon delivery. The PC was delivered in the original DeepCool box with YourBuild tape. Functionally absolutely fine and well protected, but from my background as a marketer, I see room for refinement here. A fullybrande box would make the premium feeling even stronger. Not a criticism, but a constructive suggestion - precisely because the rest of the experience is so strong and this can make the difference between very good and really excellent.

Conclusion: gaining focus by outsourcing the right work

This sim racing PC does exactly what I hoped for from it - and, frankly, a bit more. It works. Always. Without me having to dwell on it. But what that gives me most of all is peace of mind. No doubting whether something will hold up, no second-guessing during a race, no thought in the back of my mind that the PC might be the limiting factor. I know I can rely on it, regardless of whether I'm racing on single screen or in VR.

As a result, working with YourBuild.co.uk also feels like a conscious choice for security and quality. From the first contact until now, months later, I have had the feeling that everything is right. You don't only feel that confidence at the delivery, but also in the daily use, communication and positive pre- and after-sales.

For me, this is proof that outsourcing does not necessarily mean losing grip. On the contrary. It gives focus, confidence and space to do what matters to me: driving, improving and enjoying sim racing - without noise in the background or a PC that I can't quite rely on.

“No fuss and no doubt - just a sim racing PC I can fully rely on.”

What weighs heavily for me is that YourBuild has deliberately stayed small. You deal directly with Bram and Coen - two people with passion for their profession and visible pleasure in what they do. That keeps the lines of communication short, the communication clear and the contact personal.

You notice by everything that this is not a big webshop where it's all about volume and pushing boxes. You are not an order number here, but someone with a clear use case and expectations. It is precisely this small scale and involvement that makes the difference. For me, this makes YourBuild feel not like a supplier, but like a partner - and that makes them eminently suitable for my next PC build!

Have a PC built? My personal tip

Should you consider having a PC built after reading my personal experience, I can sincerely recommend YourBuild.co.uk. The service is personal, the communication clear and committed, and the end result is just incredibly good.

If you use the code ‘SRH3’ when ordering, you will receive 3% discount on your build. That may not seem like much, but on a high-end PC, it quickly saves a nice amount of money. Moreover, by doing so, you also support two young, passionate entrepreneurs who assemble your next PC with visible pleasure and craftsmanship. As far as I am concerned, a win-win - for you and for them.
