Trophi.ai - but sim racing coaching software in general - is increasingly mentioned as a serious training partner for sim racers who want to become faster and more consistent. The promise is clear: less guesswork, more focused analysis and a shorter learning curve. But in the end, sim racing is still about execution. Speed does not come from software, but from how consistently and technically clean you drive the car. So the key question is not whether AI sounds impressive, but whether Trophi.ai actually contributes to how you drive, learn and perform.
Recently, I have Trophi.ai extensively tested during real racing weeks in iRacing. My starting point was clear: to regain my old level after almost two years of absence and objectively analyse where I was losing pace. Because in all honesty; I had completely lost the feeling and confidence for a while
In this article, I take you through my findings on using Trophi.ai and how AI tools in sim racing gave me renewed confidence, speed AND insight.
Why Trophi.ai is more than just telemetry
Sim racing has always been data-driven. Telemetry, deltas, overlays and setup adjustments have been the basis of serious progression for years. Yet therein lies a fundamental bottleneck. Data shows what happens, but rarely why it happens.
This is precisely where Trophi.ai positions itself differently. The system does not add extra charts for the sake of adding charts, but translates existing data into concrete areas for improvement. Instead of just showing that you lose time in sector two, it tries to explain what causes that time loss. And precisely this translation is crucial. Without context, analysis remains interpretation. With context, analysis becomes decision-making.
Almost two seconds short: why I seriously wanted to test Trophi.ai
My re-entry into iRacing began during an F4 week at Misano, a circuit I knew well and a car in which I had been competitive before. For this very reason, the reality was confronting: I was almost two seconds off my old pace. One of the reasons I had ignored iRacing for a while was simply lack of time.
Preparing intensively, learning circuits and training structurally requires focus that I could hardly free up last period. At the same time, I missed competitive racing - the excitement, the dopamine and the satisfaction of competing at the front. When I return, I don't want to join at the back; I want to compete for a top-five position. That means making more efficient and focused use of the limited training time I have.

What made it frustrating was that my driving didn't feel dramatically bad. I made no major mistakes, my lines made sense and my braking points seemed right. Still, the stopwatch kept making it clear that I was falling short structurally.
Driving more laps did not bring any structural improvement. I was repeating my existing patterns without understanding exactly where things were going wrong. That was when I decided to have my sessions systematically analysed by Trophi.ai.
What Trophi.ai specifically analyses in your driving style
Trophi.ai looks at, among other things:
- Peak brake pressure and timing of braking phase
- Speed and progression of brake release
- Throttle build-up and stability on exit
- Control inputs and micro-corrections
- Time loss per turn
- Consistency across multiple rounds
In themselves, these are not unfamiliar parameters. The difference is in how Trophi.ai prioritises these data and translates them into practical areas for improvement.
“This one tool fundamentally changes how you train. You get concrete feedback per turn, real-time coaching in your headset and insight into where you are really leaving time. It feels like a coach is constantly watching you.”
In my first sessions, for example, it became clear that my brake release in several medium-speed corners was too gradual. I was holding the brake pressure just a little too long, keeping the front of the car under load for longer and allowing it to rotate less freely. The result was subtle but measurable: extra steering corrections and a less efficient exit.
In addition, my throttle build-up proved less stable than my gut told me. Small fluctuations in throttle input caused slight instability when out accelerating, which cumulatively cost speed. Also, the data clearly showed that I often turn in a little too quickly, missing momentum in the corner exit and thus getting on the throttle too late. These are nuances that you don't always feel immediately, but which become objectively visible via Trophi.ai.
Subscriptions and pricing
Trophi.ai offers three variants: Premium, Premium + Setups and Professional.
- Premium contains all the core functionalities: Coach Reports, live telemetry overlays and the AI coach.
- Premium + Setups Adds professional data packs from “Grid and Go”, including extensive reference laps, in-depth data analysis and competitive setups aimed at maximising grip, stability and consistency over longer runs.
- Professional goes a step further with personal coaching through “Driver61”.
For my testing, the Premium variant was enough to make significant gains. That makes the entry level realistic for most serious sim racers.

Five concrete benefits of Trophi.ai
Here are some concrete benefits why Trophi.ai will help you get faster in sim racing.
1. Instant insight into where you are really losing time
Instead of guessing by feel, you see exactly which corner or which phase of a turn is responsible for the biggest time loss. This prevents you from putting energy into details that have little impact.
2. Faster learning curve with new circuits
Through targeted analysis and real-time feedback, you shorten the acclimatisation period. You don't have to ride dozens of laps first to reach a basic level; you work with targeted corrections from the start.
3. Focus on technique rather than just lap time
Trophi.ai forces you to look at your fundamentals: brake pressure, brake release, throttle build-up and steering input. This ensures structural improvement rather than occasional quick laps.
4. Training more efficiently with limited time
When, like me, you cannot train indefinitely, direction is crucial. By prioritising and choosing one technical focus point per session, you get more out of fewer rounds.
5. Increased confidence through objective feedback
Once you know where you are losing time and why, much of the doubt disappears. That mental calm translates directly into steadier and faster riding.
Mansell AI within Trophi.ai: real-time corrections without distractions
A notable feature of Trophi.ai is live voice coaching via Mansell AI. While driving, you will receive targeted instructions on specific turns, based on the analysis of your previous lap. What stands out positively here is that the feedback remains technical and concise. No long explanations while driving on the limit, but short corrections you can apply immediately. So I do not experience it as disturbing, but as a useful tool.
“This tool not only speeds up your lap time, but more importantly your learning process. You know where you are losing time and what to do about it. That suddenly makes training logical.”
Several times during Misano, I was given instructions on my brake release in two specific corners. Releasing the brake slightly earlier and more progressively improved the natural rotation of the car, allowing me to get on the gas more stably and earlier. Other real-life examples include being told to brake or steer a few metres earlier or later, for example. These are all super useful and valuable tips that you can immediately put into practice.
Importantly, Trophi.ai does this without disrupting your concentration. You stay in your rhythm, make subtle adjustments and see the effect in the next round. This significantly shortens the learning cycle. Another nice feature to Mansell AI is that you can set bleeps at the ideal braking point. With a monotone tone in your ear, you know exactly when you are at the ideal braking point. This is super handy!

Coach Report in Trophi.ai: where is your biggest time gain?
After each session, Trophi.ai generates a comprehensive Coach Report with a turn-by-turn analysis. Here it became visible to me where the real gains were. It turned out that my time loss was not spread evenly across the track, but concentrated in one specific braking zone that was responsible for almost 40% of my total gap.
Without analysis, I probably would have spread my attention over several corners. By technically dissecting only that braking phase - from peak brake pressure to release timing and auto-rotation - I was able to make targeted adjustments.
Within one or two sessions, I saw the result reflected in my lap time: over 1.5 seconds gain, not by driving more aggressively, but by driving more efficiently. That's exactly where Trophi.ai made the difference for me.

What Trophi.ai changes mentally: trust through objectivity
Besides the technical gains, I noticed a clear mental shift. Once you see through Trophi.ai where you are losing time and why, much of the doubt disappears. You stop adjusting randomly and start optimising in a targeted way. That creates peace in your mind and that peace translates directly into confidence and consistency on the track.
Confidence is an essential accelerator in sim racing. Doubt when turning in or picking up the throttle costs speed, however small. Objective feedback made my approach more rational and my execution more consistent. Trophi.ai - unfortunately - did not give me new talent, but it did give me structure, insight and control, allowing you to focus on improving your speed and mistakes.
Critical reflection on Trophi.ai
Trophi.ai is not a substitute for experience or driving feel. It is and remains a tool that makes suggestions based on data and those suggestions must be interpreted within your driving style, car and setup. Some directions require nuance and not every situation can be fully captured by algorithms. Following blindly is not a solution. The power lies in the combination of experience and objective analysis.

Anyone expecting Trophi.ai to take over all the work: no, it doesn't work like that. Those willing to take a critical look at their technique and actively engage with the feedback will get a valuable tool to train in a more focused and efficient way and find speed faster, and clear guidelines you can work with.
Personal experience: from frustration to control
In the end, what surprised me most about Trophi.ai was not just the time gains, but the sense of control that returned - regardless of the car or track I was driving on. Whether it was a formula class with a lot of aero dependence, a GT car with more weight and less direct rotation, or a technical street circuit versus a flowing high-speed track: the underlying principle remained the same. I gained insight into what I was doing behind the wheel.
In the first weeks, I especially noticed how quickly you fall into old patterns when you train without a clear analysis. You drive laps, feel there is more in it, but don't know exactly where to start. That pattern repeats itself in almost every class: just a bit too long on the brakes, just a bit too abrupt on the throttle or just too much steering input in the middle of the corner.
Structurally analysing my sessions with Trophi.ai fundamentally changed that process. Instead of driving many laps and hoping things would improve by themselves, I drove shorter, more focused runs with one technical focus point. Sometimes the focus was on brake release in a high-downforce car, sometimes on throttle modulation in a heavier GT class. On a technical track, it was about precision in slow corners; on a faster track, it was about high-speed stability.

What kept recurring was the same effect: brightness. I knew beforehand what I was going to focus on and afterwards what the effect was. My lap times did not always improve explosively, but they were stable and reproducible. And that very reproducibility gave me confidence.
It felt like I was no longer training randomly, but working with a virtual coach who helped me across different racing classes and circuits to improve my foundation. Not by pushing harder, but by understanding more sharply what I was doing technically - and where I could do better. And while I certainly don't yet have the speed back to where I want me to be; Trophi.ai does give me that push to get back towards that old level - or over it. So for me personally, Trophi.ai is an absolute must-have for sim racing.
Trophi.ai 7-day testing
Trophi.ai offers a 7-day free trial, which is enough time to measure the effect objectively. Choose a track you know well, analyse your biggest time losses and work specifically on one technical improvement point per session. Then measure your progress, not only in lap time, but also in consistency and confidence. For me, this resulted in over 1.5 seconds of gain within a few sessions - not by riding faster, but by better understanding what I was doing and why.
Trophi.ai does not change the fact that you are driving the car, but it can make the difference between driving around and purposefully getting better - especially if, like me, you want to maximise your limited training time.
