Sim-Lab and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team have once again joined forces. The result: the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Sim Racing Cockpit. A revolutionary cockpit that raises the bar for Formula 1-inspired sim racing setups.

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Sim Racing Cockpit is an officially licensed product that impresses not only with its design and build quality, but especially with its uncompromising focus on realism and performance. For sim racers striving for an experience as close as possible to the real F1 situation, it represents the new benchmark.

A rig with Formula 1 DNA

This cockpit is not a marketing gimmick, but an in-depth engineering project in collaboration with the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team. Sim-Lab used real CAD data and technical expertise from the F1 world to reproduce the exact seating position of a modern Formula 1 car. The angles of backrest, legs and feet were fully replicated based on data sourced from the team's engineering department.

The cockpit is designed to ensure correct ergonomics and body position. The pedals and seat frame are therefore not simply adjustable, but fixed in the right position. This simulates a racing position without concessions, just like in a real single-seater. Everything is about precision, balance and control.

Extremely rigid construction

To cope with the extreme forces of modern direct drive wheelbases and loadcell pedals, Sim-Lab developed completely new aluminium profiles. These wider, stiffer profiles are specifically designed for this cockpit and eliminate flex under load, even during prolonged and intensive use. Every millimetre of construction contributes to stability and durability.

The wider size of the frame - 836 mm wide instead of the 680 mm of the standard P1X Pro - not only creates more stability, but also allows the central placement of the seat within the frame. The increased stiffness translates directly to more precision on the track, especially in fast direction changes or when braking hard.

Fully adaptable to your driving style

Although the cockpit is based on the Formula 1 position, it remains surprisingly flexible in use. Sim-Lab provides the frame with several adjustment options so you can easily set your favourite seating position. The wheel plate, pedals and seat are all individually adjustable in height, angle and distance. This makes the cockpit suitable for a wide range of body lengths and riding styles.

This customisability makes the cockpit suitable not only for F1 fans, but also for sim racers who want to drive in a hybrid or GT position. Thanks to the clever design, you change configurations relatively easily, without compromising rigidity.

Newly developed F1 bucket seat (optional)

The newly developed F1 bucket seat is not a modified version of an existing chair, but a completely new development. Made of reinforced glass fibre (GRP) and designed with maximum rigidity in mind. The shape is based on the seating position of a real F1 car and optimally supports the body during longer racing sessions.

The finish is also of a high standard: a breathable 3D mesh fabric provides ventilation, while the inside features comfortable, supportive padding. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 logo is stylishly integrated and adds a premium feel to the overall look. Note: this seat is currently not available separately, only as part of the cockpit package and costs €499.

Comparison with the Sim-Lab P1X Pro

Although this cockpit clearly shows kinship with the popular P1X Pro, the differences are significant:

  • Broader base: 836 mm versus 680 mm - crucial for the lower and central montage of the seat
  • New profile forms: designed for extra torsional rigidity and stability
  • Angled wheel mounting: for correct arm position in F1 position
  • Removal of accessory arm: minimalist and focused design without distractions
  • New pedal attachment: modular and more adjustable than previous versions

These modifications make the cockpit not only visually distinctive, but above all functionally optimised for the F1 purpose.

Price, content and availability

The Sim Lab Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Sim Racing Cockpit comes standard with:

  • Full aluminium cockpit frame (incl. front, side and wheeldeck mounts)
  • Brackets and slides for chairmontage
  • Optional F1 bucket seat included in bundle

Price indication: about €1,700 including seat, depending on your location and taxes. Shipping costs may vary.

Deliveries will start from the last week of August 2025. For now, the cockpit is only available through Sim-Lab's European webshop. A new webshop for the US market is planned for autumn 2025.
